NRM needs 35-40 volunteers each day to meet the needs of our organization.

Be an Ally/Mentor/Champion to students in one of our job readiness or financial literacy classes.  Call for dates and times.

Phone Specialist – answer phones for ministry 
  • Monday - Friday, 4 hr shift: 9:00am - 1:00pm and 1:00 - 5:00pm
Food Pantry Volunteers 
  • Mondays: 10:00am – 3:00pm 
  • Tuesdays: 10:00am – 1:00pm & 12:00 - 3:00pm  
  • Wednesdays: 10:00am – 1:00pm, 12:00 - 3:00pm and 5:00 – 8:30pm 
  • Thursdays: 10:00am – 3:00pm
Thrift Shoppe Donations Volunteers 
  • All shifts available – Bring a friend and enjoy time together as you sort donations to support helping neighbors in crisis
Thrift Shoppe Pricers 
  • All Shifts Available - If you like to shop, we need your expertise to help price our treasures!

Furniture Pick-Up Volunteers 

  • Wednesday Evenings & Saturdays - Neighbors in our community are generous to donate wonderful furniture to NRM.  By donating a few hours each month to help pick up furniture, you'll be supporting The Market (the first client's choice food pantry in Wake County).



Volunteer Opportunity Detail

CRISIS CENTER

  • Receptionist/Office Assistant: Registers clients, provides information to clients as they enter Crisis Ministry, helps with filing, typing, photocopying, folding, small mailings, and possibly some data entry. Provides interviewer with current client information.
  • Data Entry Clerk: Enters client information into the NRM computer database. Needs to be experienced and accurate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and database systems. Creates and updates client files.
  • Interviewer: During the interview process, collects needed information regarding client needs and situation. After information is gathered, consults with staff to determine action.

THE MARKET

  • Market Clerks: Help neighbors select their groceries and assists with loading into their vehicles, when necessary. Rotates stock and restocks when needed. Performs light housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, cleaning shelves, taking out trash, cleaning refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Donation In-Take/Inventory: Receives food donations, sorts into categories, organizes, and shelves in storage area. Rotates stock and restocks when needed. Performs light housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, cleaning shelves, taking out trash, cleaning refrigerators/freezers, etc.
